Goal
Setting Plan and Decision Making
What
is holding you back of making the decision to act upon your goal
setting plan? It could be one or more of these habits and fears.
Continuing
too long with analysis
You
always continue to plan but never act upon it because you are not able
to chop the button in two, to make that decision. It costs you much
effort to make your plan as specific as needed to performance it, you
stay thinking in abstract ideas. In the same time you stay in a
situation that you don't want, dreaming about your desired future.
Not
able to
manage the uncertainty after the decision
When
you make plans, you do that in the well known situation of the current
moment. When you start to performance plans, you proceed on unknown
paths and it will be an adventure in which you don't know what you will
met and if and when you will achieve your goals. That gives an
uncertain feeling that you maybe can't manage. You can feel lost
without the hold of the structure that you are accustomed to. This can
hold you back to make the decision which of your plans you will perform
actually.
The
need to
control everything in your plan
You
are a perfectionist, who doesn't want to leave anything to chance. You
want to calculate every step of your plan and cover yourself against
all possible adversities. You want to shut out the chance that you
might do something wrong. You make your plan always more specific but
aren't sure that you have everything under control. That's the reason
you aren't able to make the needed decision.
Fear
to
fail
Fear
to fail has to do with control but has a social background. You are
afraid of failing with your goal setting plan because you would be
ashamed in case that would happen. Ask yourself sometime to whom you
are afraid of if your plan would fail, to whom would you feel ashamed?
Why is that bad? What is the worst case scenario if you would fail?
Fear
for
success in goal setting
Also
a reason to avoid decision making about the route that should lead to
the by you desired future. If you succeed, there can happen everything:
you will be in the spotlights, people may be envious of you, you can
loose friends. And success takes responsibility.
Fear
to
take responsibility for your decision
As
long as you don't have to make a decision, you have not to do
something, and you don't have to carry the consequences too. The main
consequence is the responsibility to lead your life in stead of to
undergo your life. That takes a paradigm shift, a complete other way to
be involved in life.
Do you recognize one of the
above
mentioned roadblocks, take action to release it, otherwise you will
never make the decision to take action upon your goal setting plan.
