What
does that mean, the now habit? Just the habit to act in the current
moment. Not to procrastinate what you can do in this moment or on this
day. An important habit.
Do you always immediately what you have
to do? I assume not. There are several causes why you
procrastinate sometimes things which you really want to do.
You don't like what you have to do. Like doing
your private administration (at least, I don't like).
You are overwhelmed by an amount of work and
you don't know where to start, which makes you nervous.
You are afraid of the outcome of your actions.
Afraid to fail, afraid of rejection, afraid of... .
The
problem is that all the time you are procrastinating these things, you
have them on your mind, always thinking about what you should do and
haven't done yet. By which they become more and more heavy to do and
you will feel guilty when other people are concerned with it.
If
you would do those things right now, if you would practice the now
habit, you would feel relieved and light and you would enjoy the time
after. That would be nice isn't it?
If that would be nice, why
don't you act this way all of the time? What is holding you back? The
answer is fear. And how will you be able to release this fear?
The Power of
Now
Then we have to look at the meaning of the present, the now, and the
power it can give you.
We talked about fear. Fear from what? You can only fear the
future. You never will have fear of the past or the present.
When
you are afraid that something nasty that you experienced in the past
will happen again, you are not afraid of the past but you project your
bad experience on the future.
In the now you are here. Here and now.
Most
people stay with their thoughts in the past or the future. But in the
current moment, the present, the now, there is no past or future. You
don't experience your past in this moment, only when you think about
it.
You don't experience your future now, you only imagine
what can happen. You know likely the acronym FEAR: Fear is Evidence
Appearancing Real.
If you stay in this place, in this moment,
here and now, there is nothing to be afraid of. You are safe and you
can relax completely.
This moment is the power of now.
And in this moment you are able to develop the now habit. There is
nothing to fear so do right now what you want or have to do.
Important Habit
Why is the now habit so important? It gives you the ability
to be relaxed;
to be concentrated;
to appreciate life;
to be confident about yourself;
to do a lot more;
and last but not least: to achieve your goals.
The now habit serves you. In this page you see some books that I have read and that I highly recommend.
