You
will see that persistence pays, achieving your goal on the long term. If
you have confidence that you can achieve your goal and you have faith,
you will be able to handle the challenges that you will met.
Your
confidence will be put to the test. It is the hardest stage of the
process of achieving your goal, but when you persist you may receive a
wonderful experience: you have made it, you have got what you wanted.
When
you start something new, you will see that there will be always moments
or periods wherein it seems you don't proceed. Then it is important
that you have persistence and patience.
Here you
will find some tips to come through these periods.
Persistence
and Success
"It
is often darkest before the dawn". Think about this when the going is
tough and you threaten to give up.
Have
patience. Plants don't grow by pulling them. In stead of that, you would
pull them out of the ground. Like that it is with achieving your goal.
It needs his timetable to grow, don't disturb the process.
Many
little improvements made in a long period of time, can make a big
difference. Don't give up if you don't see results immediately .
Take
some distance. Do other relaxing things which have nothing to do with
your goal. Sometimes we are so focused and targeted to our goals that
we cannot see anymore how we could proceed. When you take some distance
you will get new insights by which you can find an other approach.
Have
an unwavering belief that you will achieve what you want. If you have
doubts or feel discouraged, look here.
Re-evaluate
your planning: are you on track?
If
you are doing the same things without proceeding, try an other
approach. If you always do what you did, you will always get what you
got.
Have an attitude of "never give up". Like
Churchill who once said: "Never, never, never, never, never give up!".
Think
about your vision, your imagination of your goal, focus on that as
specific you can. But don't be specific in the way you will get there.
Sometimes an other strategy is acquired. Look for other plans and ask
help from other people.
Ask yourself questions
like:"What changes or improvements can I make to help me accomplish
this goal sooner?".
The power of
persistence
Take
action on things you have been putting off: Make a list of all the
important things you have been putting off and start doing them. These
things may not necessarily be directly related to your goal. Put them
on your goal setting plan. You break out of being stuck by doing
and
taking action. Willingness to take action creates the energy to do
something.
Look, when you get stuck, back to what
you have
done and achieved up until now, instead of looking to the amount of
work you should do to achieve your intended goal. By doing so you will
see that you have proceeded.
One of the secrets of
successful
people is they take action on the most important things every day.
Avoid focusing a lot of attention on things that are not important.
Here’s a quote from Robert Allen who founded "Getting Things Done", who
recommends facing the hardest things first. "Don’t do first things
first, do feared things first!" Use the Power of Now
Persistence pays
so why not
pay your price. Sometimes there are things you must do that are boring,
difficult, risky or scary...it doesn't matter how hard it is; if you
want your goal you must still take action.
Are
you willing
to change in order to get what you want? Sometimes you have to
recognize that some angles of view or behavior are limiting you and you
should change this habits.
Don't forget: have fun and
pleasure! This will release possible discouragement.
The
power of persistence will bring you to your goal. Persistence pays.
