Steps for Personal Goal Setting and Life Purpose

The steps for personal goal setting are very useful to realize your life purpose. Although I wrote an other page about life purpose on this site, where I give this idea an other meaning, in this case I mean the long term goals that you want to achieve in your  life.

It is more than likely that you want to use the steps to achieve big life goals like wealth, a good love relationship, and the maintenance of your health. That's the cause most people use personal goal setting: to improve their life.
  • Start with all things you dream of, all your desires. About wealth, health, relationships, work, money, children, travel, ambitions and so on, everything you can think of.

  • Write them down, make a list.

  • Next, look where you are now, you current situation.

  • Right or wrong, appreciate what you have now.

  • Relax.

  • Perhaps there will come up more desires in your mind. Add these to your list.

  • Imagine all your desires, one at a time, using applied imagination techniques.

  • Now write a mission statement, this way you commit yourself to your goals, however you don't know yet how you will receive and achieve them.

  • Belief that you will accomplish everything you desire.

  • Ask people who already have accomplished what you desire how they got there. How many time, money and efforts did they invest? What did they right and wrong? Learn from them.

  • Research by reading books, the Internet, magazines and more until you have gathered enough information.

  • Now take your dreams and your current situation and make several plans to bridge the gap between these two. Make a goal setting plan for every particular desire. Chunk your goals down in smaller parts so you will have track of the situation.

  • Decide with which plan you want to start and..

  • Take action. Take your first step knowing that big life goals take their timetable.

  • Persist with flexibility, enjoy your actions, enjoy the journey and every time you receive and achieve a subgoal or a goal...

  • Receive with gratitude and celebrate!
Now you can start the personal goal setting process again with your next goal. And sometimes you will be working on several goals at the same time.
