Personal Goal
Setting:
An
Advanced Explanation of the Steps
The steps for personal goal setting have more connections then only the
step by step order. Here I will give you more insight in
how they influence each other and what you need to succeed in
achieving your goals.
You can divide the twelve steps in six parts. These parts overlap each
other. The overlapping steps are the transitional stages.
Only if you are able to act well upon all the below mentioned 'work
areas', you will come to full growth and succeed.
But almost no one masters all these areas in personal goal setting, which is the reason there
are so many people who do not succeed. Added to each area you will find
where you could look for help if that particular area gives you
troubles.
Let us see how the parts in personal goal setting are divided:
Work of Emotion
The first part, receiving-appreciating-relaxing
together, you could call work of emotion. Here starts and ends every
creative goal setting process: you accept the undesired, learn from it
and release it, and you receive what you desired, enjoy it and share it.
For the work of emotion, acceptance of your current undesired situation
and to release deep causal emotions, you best look for a therapist or
psychologist.
Work of Silence
The second part, relaxing-desiring-imagining
together, could be called work of silence: you are only engaged in your
inner world of thoughts, considering your future life.
If the work of silence is difficult for you, if it is difficult to dig
up who you really are and your real desires, you could look for a
spiritual mentor. Someone who supports you to come where you want to
be, not someone who is trying to recruit you for their own sake!
Work of
Positive Thinking
The third part, imagining-believing-speaking
together, you could call work of positive thinking. During this stage
you create a positive attitude, self believe and self confidence.
Is it difficult for you to think positive about yourself and your
possibilities? If you need help with the work of positive thinking,
look for a motivational trainer or coach.
Social Net-Work
The fourth part, speaking-researching-planning
together, you could call social net-work. During this stage you are
searching for the information, place and people who will support you in
realizing your dreams.
Do you have difficulties to act pro-active when meeting new people and
extend your social network? You could have much profit if you looked
for a communication trainer and practiced his or her lessons.
Strategic Work
The fifth part, planning-decision
making-taking action together, you could call strategic
work. This is the border area between thinking and acting, where you
plan the route to your goals.
For the strategic work, the decision about the best route to your
goals you could look for someone with experience in your desired goals,
an adviser or consultant.
Real Work
The sixth part, taking
action-persevering-receiving together, you could call real
work. You work, persist, realize your planning and realize the goals
you desired.
Many people start never to act upon their
dreams because (they think) they lack the knowledge and/or the skills
to achieve what they want. So what you need is a teacher. Start and
learn when working on your dreams.
Now you pull in again at the first part, work of emotion, to receive,
enjoy and share what you achieved using the personal goal setting steps.
